The people behind the shows

Two founders, and a crew of friends and community members who make every event happen.

Fifteen years of community events, media and talent

A renowned media and event personality in the Indian-Australian community, Anuj is the founder and editor of Hindi Gaurav, Australia's first Hindi newspaper.

Over the past fifteen years he has created many of the community's signature celebrations — founder of the Holi Mela and Diwali Mela in Parramatta, the Janmashtami Mela, the Miss & Mrs India Australia pageants, and Indian Australian Idol & Dancing Star, Australia's first nationwide Indian singing competition, running since 2011.

Just as importantly, he has spent those years hunting, grooming, supporting and promoting home-grown talent — giving singers, dancers, models and performers across Australia their first stage, year after year, with a consistency unmatched in the community.

His trusted name and long-standing relationships with community media, associations and audiences give our events — and their sponsors — a depth of reach and credibility that advertising alone cannot buy.

A music lover's heart, the mind of an executive

A lifelong music enthusiast, promoter and event manager, Vivek's love of music — and of the golden era of Bollywood in particular — is what drives our concert programme: a passion for bringing the songs the community grew up with to the live stage, presented the way they deserve to be.

Behind that passion sits serious professional firepower. Vivek serves as Chief Operating Officer of one of Australia's largest privately-held software product groups, whose solutions power businesses across retail, distribution, freight and transport, wool, medical, export, and risk management and compliance.

With over 28 years in technology and a proven track record of delivering at scale, he has built his career helping Australian businesses digitise, automate and transform their operations — lifting productivity, lowering operating costs and expanding their market base.

He brings that same boardroom-level discipline to our marketing and sponsor programme: professionally run campaigns, measurable outreach, and corporate-grade delivery of every sponsor benefit.

The crew

Built by friends and neighbours

Behind every event is a team of committed friends and community members who work shoulder to shoulder with us. They are teachers, engineers, nurses, students, shopkeepers and parents who give up their weekends because they want these nights to exist.

They plan with us for months, then arrive before dawn to build a stage, spend the day running front of house, minding stalls, looking after performers and keeping families safe — and stay long after the last guest has gone to pack it all down again.

Many have been with us since the very first mela and have never missed one since. They are not staff and they are not contractors; they are the reason a small team can put on events of this size, and the reason our melas can stay free.

Alongside them we bring in specialist contractors for sound, lighting and security, because that is not the place to cut corners.

Want to join the crew?

We take on volunteers for every event — front of house, stage crew, stalls, social media and photography. It is unpaid, it is a long day, and it is the best seat in the house.
